Collapse! Open Call — Issue 01

Write so you do not collapse.

Publisher: Senliz PublicationDeadline: 18 August 2026
A surreal sepia landscape with a full moon, ruined architecture and floating pages representing the Collapse! literary open call.

Collapse! is an occasional literary review published by Senliz Publication. It does not follow a calendar. It appears when the world becomes too much, when silence begins to feel dishonest, and when writing becomes a way to survive what cannot remain inside.

For our first issue, we are inviting writers working in Persian / Farsi or English, from anywhere in the world, to send us a literary response to the world as it is now.

The question is simple:

What do you write so this world does not make you collapse?

Write about whatever keeps pressing against you: war, exile, censorship, loneliness, identity, grief, poverty, fear, love, displacement, rage, survival, or the strange exhaustion of being alive today.

We are not looking for polite writing.

Do not soften your voice for us.

Do not make your pain easier to consume.

Do not censor the sentence that brought you here.

Your submission may be a short story, essay, confession, letter, fragment, monologue, prose poem, personal reflection, or a form that does not yet have a name.

It may be five thousand words.

It may be five lines.

It may even be a suicide note you never sent—the one that allowed something trapped inside you to leave the page instead of destroying you.

We are gathering to write for our own survival.

Who can submit?

This open call is completely free and open to anyone writing in Persian / Farsi or English.

You do not need to be a published writer.

You do not need literary connections.

You do not need to belong to an institution.

You do not need permission.

We want to carry urgent, independent voices across borders — especially voices that have been ignored, censored, simplified, or made acceptable for other people’s comfort.

We also want Iranian voices to reach the world as they truly are: not cleaned up, translated into politeness, or reduced to what an international audience expects from Iran.

Publication

A total of ten works will be selected for the first issue of Collapse!

Selected Persian / Farsi works will be translated into English by Senliz Publication. Selected English-language works will undergo editorial preparation where needed.

All ten pieces will be published in English in the first issue of Collapse! for an international readership.

Selection will not be based on fame, credentials, nationality, or social-media following. We are looking for urgency, honesty, literary force, and a voice that leaves something behind.

Submission Requirements

  • Submissions may be written in Persian / Farsi or English.
  • Participation is completely free.
  • The maximum length is 5,000 words.
  • Very short pieces are welcome.
  • The work must be your own.
  • The submission must respond, in some way, to the world we are living in.
  • Unconventional, personal, experimental, raw, and uncensored writing is welcome.
